"Forget the moon landing, forget computers, forget Toni Morrison's Beloved. We all know the real greatest achievement of the twentieth century is Rock and Roll. No other kind of music is as riveting to the body and brain: a gentle ballad by the Kinks can make you sigh contentedly, and a screeching guitar solo by Van Halen can make you leap up and dance. It totally rocks, man!
So for this BBC Contest, just let me hear some of that rock and roll music, any old way you choose it. From Beatles to Bowie or from Chuck Berry and Little Richard to Led Zeppelin and Queen, it's all good - it's just gotta be rock and roll music if you wanna dance with me. We want you to build specific people or paraphernalia associated with rock and roll. You want to build Bruce Springsteen? Right on, brother. Want to build a Fender Telecaster? Righteous! Just don't build 'interpretations of songs'; we already had a contest for that. .But there's more. Coming up at the end of this summer is BrickFair, a most excellent Lego convention in Chantilly, Virginia attended by fans from all over the world. As has been done in several previous summers, the finalists for this contest will be displayed at BrickFair. Additionally, the final round of voting will be open to attendees of the convention, live, in addition to online here at BZPower. This means:
* To enter this contest, you MUST be willing to ship your entry to the convention.
* If you make it to the finals, it is your responsibility to make sure the MOC arrives in time. If it does not, you will be disqualified.
The good news is that finalists will be given nearly a month to get their MOCs to Virginia. The better news is that for the first time, this BrickFair BBCC is open to entrants from anywhere in the world. As long as you can get your MOC to us in time, if it reaches the finals, you can enter this contest! The shipping address will be provided to the finalists upon reaching the finals. Live Final voting (by ballot) at BrickFair will be conducted simultaneously with online poll voting here at BZPower during the convention, from August 5th-8th."
